PDF to Excel

This is not a picture of your PDF pasted into Excel. The tables are rebuilt as real rows and columns, and values like 48,213.7, (1,250.00), 12.4% or 2025-03-31 become numbers and dates you can calculate with.

What you get

  • An .xlsx workbook with one sheet per table
  • Numeric cells you can sum and chart
  • Real Excel dates where the date is unambiguous
  • Table captions above each sheet, and a frozen header row

How it works

  1. All tables in the PDF are detected and rebuilt cell by cell.
  2. Each value is checked: thousands separators, accounting negatives in brackets, percentages, currency symbols and ISO or written-out dates are converted.
  3. Anything that is not unambiguous stays as the original text. For example, 03/04/2025 could be March or April, so it is left as written.

Good to know

  • Only tables are exported, not paragraphs of text. Use PDF to Markdown or PDF to Text for that.
  • Scanned tables get a “review recommended” warning. Check totals against the original.
  • Excel's own limits apply (for example, 1,048,576 rows per sheet).

Questions

Why is a value still text in Excel?

Because it was not unambiguous. We only convert when we are sure: an ID like 007, a code like SH-1001 or a date like 03/04/2025 is kept exactly as written rather than guessed.

Are merged cells kept?

Merged values are repeated in every row they cover. That way, filtering and sorting in Excel still give correct results.

Can I get one table only?

Yes. In the preview you can download any single table as Excel or CSV.
